hugging-with-uniforms

Thank you for choosing Just Right Lawns for your Central Texas lawn care needs. We're excited to partner with you in creating and maintaining a healthy, beautiful lawn you can be proud of. With over 20 years of experience serving Texas, we've built our reputation on dependability, integrity, and delivering exactly what we promise—no more, no less.

This guide will walk you through everything you need to know as a new customer, from how our services work to what results you can expect and when.

What Makes Just Right Lawns Different

As a family-owned and locally operated company, we take a different approach than many larger lawn care providers:

  • No contracts or hidden fees. You're not locked into long-term commitments. Our services are pay-as-you-go (charged after completion), with the exception of landscaping projects that require prepayment.
  • Dependability and follow-through. Services are completed on your promised service day, weather permitting. We take pride in showing up when we say we will.
  • One-stop shop for lawn care. From weekly mowing to our comprehensive 8-round fertilization program to seasonal landscaping—we handle it all so you don't have to coordinate multiple vendors.
  • Easy communication with real people. Our simple phone system connects you with actual team members who can answer questions and address concerns quickly.
  • Integrity-first recommendations. We only recommend and perform services your property actually needs. No upselling, no unnecessary treatments.
  • Clear expectations from day one. We believe transparency around pricing, scheduling, and realistic results is the foundation of a great customer relationship.

Your Core Services: Mowing and Fertilization & Weed Control

Most customers begin their relationship with us through one or both of our foundational services: lawn mowing and fertilization & weed control (FWC). These services can be bundled together or scheduled separately based on your needs.

Lawn Mowing Service

What's Included:

  • One- or two-person professional crew
  • Mowing at the proper height based on your specific grass type, season, and current temperatures
  • Edging along flower beds, driveways, and sidewalks
  • Weed-eating around structures, fences, and tight spaces
  • Blowing clippings and debris back onto the lawn (we use a mulching technique that returns nutrients to your soil)
  • Cleaning all hard surfaces including patios, walkways, and driveways

Your Mowing Schedule: We'll provide your annual mowing schedule in advance. Services are typically weekly or bi-weekly depending on growing conditions and your preference. Unlike some companies, we don't send reminders before each visit—your crew will arrive on your scheduled service day as planned.

What to Expect: Your first visit establishes the baseline for your property. You'll see immediate visual improvement after each service, while the long-term health of your lawn improves with consistent care over time.

Before Your Service Day: Please clear your lawn of toys, trash, pet waste, and other obstacles. If you have a locked gate, make sure to provide access codes or unlock it prior to service.

Fertilization & Weed Control (FWC Turf)

What's Included:

  • State-certified, one-person technician
  • Treatment customized to your lawn's current needs based on our 8-round annual program
  • Day-before text confirmation
  • Optional on-the-way text (if you've requested the call-ahead feature)
  • Door hanger explaining what was applied, plus watering and mowing recommendations
  • Yard sign with our logo, QR code, and re-entry timing information
  • Post-service email with treatment details and care instructions
  • Detailed technician notes in our system, including any recommendations for additional services

The 8-Round Program: Our FWC program consists of eight strategically timed visits throughout the year. Treatments are tailored to seasonal turf needs and temperature conditions. You can begin the program at any time of year—the round-based design ensures your lawn gets what it needs no matter when you start.

Results and Timeline: This is where we need to set clear expectations: fertilization and weed control results are gradual. You'll see improvement over several weeks, with full results achieved over multiple treatment rounds. This isn't instant—it's a science-based process that builds lawn health over time.

Your Responsibility: Proper watering is crucial for effective results. We'll provide specific watering recommendations after each treatment, but maintaining appropriate moisture levels is your responsibility. Without consistent watering, even the best treatments won't deliver optimal results.

Landscaping Services: Seasonal Enhancement

Once your core services are established, many customers add landscaping cleanup for seasonal projects or ongoing enhancement.

What's Included:

  • Day-before communication confirming the exact scope of work
  • Crew walk-through on arrival to ensure alignment
  • Office approval process if additional time is needed beyond the estimate
  • Complete debris and trash removal (we haul everything away)

Service Structure: Landscaping is typically one-time or seasonal (up to three times per year). Because site conditions can vary, timing may shift slightly from original estimates.

Results: You'll see immediate visual improvement. Unlike FWC, landscaping cleanup delivers instant transformation.

Add-On Services Available

The following services are available but are NOT included in your core services unless you specifically approve them:

  • Aeration
  • Bed and weed control
  • Fungicide treatments
  • Grub control
  • Tree and shrub care
  • Fire ant treatments
  • Leaf relief
  • Grass bagging

If our technicians identify a need for any of these services during a visit, they'll make a recommendation through our system. We'll reach out to discuss and get your approval before performing any additional work.

Understanding Our Scheduling and Communication

  • Route-Based Scheduling: Your service day is determined by route efficiency. This means we group properties by geographic location to minimize drive time and environmental impact. Your service day may occasionally shift based on weather or route optimization.
  • No Exact Arrival Times: We do not offer specific arrival time windows. Services are scheduled by route, not by appointment time. Your crew will arrive sometime during your scheduled service day.
  • Service Reminders:
    • FWC: You'll receive a text confirmation the day before service and an optional on-the-way notification
    • Mowing: No reminders sent—we'll arrive on your regular scheduled day
    • Landscaping: Scope and timing confirmed the day before
  • Making Changes: Need to skip a service or adjust your schedule? Contact us at least 24 hours in advance. Last-minute requests may not be possible due to route planning.

Billing, Payments, and Policies

  • Payment Structure:
    • Mowing and FWC: Pay-as-you-go model. You're charged after service is completed.
    • Landscaping: Prepayment required before work begins.
  • Cancellation Policy: If you cancel mowing services before six completed visits, a $30 early cancellation fee applies.
  • Customer Portal Access: You can view invoices, past services, and upcoming scheduled visits through our customer portal at any time.
  • Weather Delays: Central Texas weather can be unpredictable. If weather prevents service on your scheduled day, we'll complete it as soon as conditions allow.

Setting Realistic Expectations

We believe in being upfront about what's achievable and what's not. Here are some key points every customer should understand:

  • Results Take Time: Visible improvements from fertilization, weed control, and mowing consistency develop over weeks and months, not days. Lawn health is a marathon, not a sprint.
  • Seasonality Matters: Weather and seasons affect grass growth rates, appearance, and how often service is needed. Your lawn will look different in July than it does in January—and that's completely normal for Central Texas.
  • You'll Likely See the Same Team: We try to maintain consistency by assigning the same technician or crew to your property. However, changes may occur due to scheduling, weather, or staffing needs.
  • We Work in Most Weather: Light rain doesn't stop us. Heavy storms do. We'll communicate any weather-related delays.
  • Immediate Results vs. Long-Term Health: Mowing and landscaping cleanup deliver instant visual improvement. FWC builds lawn health over time through multiple treatments. Both are valuable but work on different timelines.

Your First Service: What to Prepare

Before your first visit:

  1. Provide gate access: Share any codes or unlock gates
  2. Clear the lawn: Remove toys, trash, pet waste, and obstacles
  3. Note any concerns: If there are specific areas you want us to pay extra attention to, let us know in advance
  4. Have realistic expectations: Your first service establishes the baseline. Transformation happens over time with consistent care.

Who We're Best For (and Who We're Not)

  • Expect instant results or unrealistic outcomes from lawn care

Questions You Might Have

Can you do additional services while you're here?

Not without prior approval. Add-on services require separate authorization to ensure clear communication and accurate billing.

Do I need to water after treatment?

Yes. We'll provide specific watering instructions after each FWC service. Proper watering is essential for treatment effectiveness.

Do you move toys, furniture, or obstacles?

No. Please clear your lawn before service to ensure our crew can work safely and efficiently.

Is it safe for pets and kids?

Yes, once products are dry. Your door hanger and yard sign will indicate the recommended re-entry time, typically a few hours.

What happens if it rains after treatment?

Light rain is actually beneficial and helps products absorb. Heavy rain shortly after application may require a follow-up—we'll assess and communicate with you.

When will I start seeing results?

Mowing and landscaping cleanup: Immediately. FWC: Gradual improvement over several weeks, with optimal results after multiple rounds.

Will the crew knock or notify me on arrival?

Typically no. Our crews work efficiently and most customers prefer minimal disruption. FWC customers with the call-ahead feature will receive an on-the-way text.
